Lawrence Hill is the author of ten books, including The Book of Negroes, winner of The Commonwealth Writers’ Prize, the Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize, and both the English and French Canadian versions of CBC Radio’s Canada Reads. He has co-written the adaptation for a six-part television miniseries of The Book of Negroes starring Cuba Gooding Jr., Louis Gossett Jr., and Aunjanue Ellis. Hill is an honorary patron of Crossroads International, and has travelled to Niger, Cameroon, and Mali, working for the Aminata Fund, a program that supports young girls and women in Africa to achieve autonomy and success in education and business. Hill lives in Hamilton, Ontario, with his wife, author Miranda Hill, and family. This year, Hill has been awarded the Order of Canada and has been inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame.
